This checks one deckbuilding condition. It does not verify a card’s identity, ban status, release date, or your entire deck. Check card legality separately.

This is the printed card. Its ability received the Oracle correction explained below.
What the Oracle correction changes
With Tolabow, Loch Rascal as your commander, choose one color other than blue. Instant and sorcery cards may include blue and that chosen color in their color identity. Other colors remain outside that permission. Any basic land cards are allowed.
For a red choice, Lightning Bolt and Mystic Retrieval fit the spell permission. Ancient Grudge fails because its flashback cost adds green to its color identity. This is a functional correction announced on August 3, 2026 and repeated in the October bulletin.

Fits this condition
Mystic Retrieval
BlueRed
Choose red with Tolabow. This sorcery's blue and red identity stays inside that permission.

Outside this permission
Ancient Grudge
RedGreen
The green flashback cost is part of its identity. A red choice does not allow that extra green.
These are color-identity examples from the official Tolabow correction. A passing result does not establish a card's overall legality.
Check a card’s color identity
Use the full card
Enter every color in the card’s identity, including applicable colors on another face or alternative characteristics. Reminder text is ignored. A spell’s appearance or the mana you plan to spend is not a substitute for that identity.

Why a card can still be excluded
A passing result covers only this color-identity question under Tolabow’s ability. Check the exact card type and current Oracle text in Gatherer, then use the deck checklist. Basic lands are handled separately from other lands. Changing a creature’s type during play does not change what you registered in your starting deck.
